We had the opportunity to talk with the legendary DJ Large for a moment. He’s been a major part of pushing the hip-hop scene forward in Sweden, producing mind blowing beats and setting a standard in sound and arrangement. From a sound perspective, his beats have always been in my opinion a bit ahead of its time, he does not seem very afraid to try out new things, and experiment with different genres and including the vibe into his production. There’s plenty of good examples from his Discography which can prove this.

Information taken from Discogs.
A member of the infamous MBMA-crew. Started djing back in ‘91, started developing an interest of making my own music along the way and started doing that seriously in ‘97 and is currently doing both plus touring with diffrent groups and djing at clubs around Scandinavia and Europe. Have worked and toured with Swedish and other hip hop artists such as: MBMA, Organism12, PST/Q, Leo, Seron, Promoe, Looptroop, Rico Won, Form One, Houman Sebghati, Ison & Fille, Henry Bowers, Mange Myten, AFC, Spotrunnaz, Timbuktu, Chords, Boombox Saints, Per V, Freestyle, Atmosphere, Chilly & Leafy, T.R, Sebbe, OBX, Petter, Afasi, Snook, Kardinal Offishal, Daville, A.G., Chino XL, Ruste Juxx.

Back in 2012. Large had the honor of receiving Best DJ of the year in Stockholm at the Kingsize Event.

When did you start making beats?

I started making my own beats in ’98 using an Ensoniq ASR-X & later i got a computer & Logic. I think it was version 3.5. Working with l
Logic & the Ensonic ASR-X together really changed the way i arranged my productions.

How does your current production setup look like?

I got a iMac 27” and Logic Pro X, Akai MPK249 midikeyboard, UA Apollo Twin Duo interface, an old Roland Juno 60 keyboard & about 6-7000 records. That’s basically it.

What album has been a major part of your influence in production?

Hard to pick just one since my productionstyle has been influenced by so many diffrent types of genres in music.

What music/artist do you stay updated on right now?

SZA, Foisey, Freddie Gibbs, Belly, Conway, Little Dragon, Rick Ross, Fredfades, Ivan Ave, Tuxedo just to name a few. A lot of good music & artists out there right now.

If you could collaborate with any producer you wanted, who would it be?

It’s a tie between Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton & Prince.

What are you currently working on ?

Currently working on a production album with collaborations from diffrent artists & also an instrumental album with just plain ol’ beats and also recording songs with swedish rapper Öris.

Is there anything more you would like to add for all the producers & readers out there?

Stay original. Do not try to sound like anyone else. Take the time to perfect your style before you put anything out there.

Producers whose work is selected for release on the catalog will have the support of our team in developing high-quality art and with developing a promotional strategy for the release. Our editorial staff also conducts interviews and develops press bios with many of the artists on our roster; we care about helping expose the individuals and stories behind the music.

Since we care about the producer, we aim to keep a in-house membership due to travelling, live-shows and yearly gatherings including support from the crew whenever a producer is releasing something new on the catalog.
