  • Today marks ten years since NINETOFIVE® Recordings opened up shop. 🎉 Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to support so many talented producers across so many sub-genres of instrumental music. Their styles are all different, but I’ve always felt they go hand-in-hand. And to celebrate a full decade of NINETOFIVE, we’re releasing a compilation that celebrates the diversity of artists and instrumental genres we love here. For all you vinyl collectors: we’re releasing a limited-edition double LP of the album in collaboration with our friends over at Qrates. We’re only making 200 physical copies, but the compilation will be on streaming, too. (Owning the album feels way cooler, though—so go grab a copy!) Thinking back, it’s clear how much the beat-making scene has changed since the early Soundcloud days. There’s less super-heavy sidechaining and everyone’s a little better at mixing, but the real evolution is the community that’s formed around instrumental music. That wasn’t there when we started, and contributing to it has been such an honor. Thank you to everyone who’s shown us support over the years, listened to our releases, read our articles, or become a fan of the beatmakers in our community. You’ve made NINETOFIVE what it is today.   • The life of a music producer can be a solitary one, particularly in current times. Artist collaboration has largely moved to online exchanges, communities are now primarily digital – existing solely on platforms like Discord. Add that to a post-pandemic economy that has permanently closed many of the physical places that artists previously relied upon and it’s not hard to see how isolating it can be. It’s a situation that Manchester-based producers 🇬🇧 @mattkuartz and @lone_apostrophe were acutely aware of. In response, the duo founded @workinonit.mcr – a monthly event in Manchester for artists to showcase their work, forge new connections, and build community. All in a relaxed environment, free for everyone to enjoy. In its first 12 months WORKINONIT has played host to everyone from emerging local talent to international artists, and even a full live band playing MF DOOM covers. Producers whose work is selected for release on the catalog will have the support of our team in developing high-quality art and with developing a promotional strategy for the release. Our editorial staff also conducts interviews and develops press bios with many of the artists on our roster; we care about helping expose the individuals and stories behind the music.

Since we care about the producer, we aim to keep a in-house membership due to travelling, live-shows and yearly gatherings including support from the crew whenever a producer is releasing something new on the catalog.
