I have the honor of presenting a new collaboration between the two great producers, both from Sweden who’s teamed up for this beautiful song. Both Boukas & Max I Million has been a part of the movement for a long time and they’ve always been around in the same circles and have similiar styles in both producing and also what sounds that’s inspiring them. It’s a beautiful song they’ve created together and i’m truly excited for what the future holds for their music. Read more about their thoughts on this collaboration down below in a small in-depth interview about how things came to life and their work-flow.

What is the theme you were aiming for with the track?
Max I Million – It’s a slow, jazzy, hypnotically soulful composition that combine dreamy lofi elements with Dilla:esque boom bap. Boukas and I are from the same collective and this is the first time we do a collab. It’s a super chill, hazy instrumental that will make you wanna kick back in the couch aswell as make your head nod.

Can you describe, briefly, how the two of you work together on a musical project?
Boukas – This project was form very organically. It all started with i sent an idea to Max I Million – I’ve just got home from a recording session of sound effects in a industrial environment in Gothenburg, Sweden. The moment I started to process the sound and started to make a bouncy loop, i thought that Max I Million would be perfect to feature on this track. He was excited and a few days later he sent me the stems of the bassline and melodies, plus some additional percussions. I started to arrange the track and added some more synths, some live percussions, and focused on the sound design and mix.

The two of us have been a part of NINETOFIVE together since 2016 and the beatmaking crew Stockholm Beat Embassy since 2018 and we’ve never made a collab, so it was about that time.

Can we expect more collaborations together in the same style?
There will be more collaborations between me and Max I Million, but also with the other members of Stockholm Beat Embassy (Cam the Downrocka & Gonza).

Is there any upcoming projects we should be aware of?
Boukas – I am working on a collaboration project with the in-house member and good friend A D M B, but also a project with Math-Mic. A single from that project will be released shortly. I am also working a lot with my good friend Anton Klavborn who is a great musician and friend. The style of this is a mix between J Dilla and Lonnie Liston Smith. We are recording fender rhodes, bass, guitar and focusing more on ”real instrument”, but with a beat vibe.

Max I Million – I’m working simultaneously on several projects. I’m finishing up a full length NINETOFIVE album, aswell as the sequel to my last album Uncut Gems on Coalmine Records. I’m also working on a straight up jazz album where I play the keys for the most part along with other musicans blessing my compositions with bass, horns etc. So you will be hearing a lot of different sounds in the near future.

Producers whose work is selected for release on the catalog will have the support of our team in developing high-quality art and with developing a promotional strategy for the release. Our editorial staff also conducts interviews and develops press bios with many of the artists on our roster; we care about helping expose the individuals and stories behind the music.

Since we care about the producer, we aim to keep a in-house membership due to travelling, live-shows and yearly gatherings including support from the crew whenever a producer is releasing something new on the catalog.
