Interview with Kendall Miles:

1. Significance behind the album title “Balance”? And how the name relates to the mood of the album?

We selected the name “Balance” after receiving the finalized artwork from my friend Yang (@yangfreezy). Mountains embody strength, earth, peace, etc. & all life is dependent on balance. To me, the songs represent these attributes along with experiences throughout life.

2. How did the collaborative album come to be? Backstory.

Soon after traveling to Florida to my friend H E R B’s spot to create our albume “Eternal”, Softy had reached out to me at the start of 2021 wanting to collaborate & had some ideas for a couple tracks. At that time,I hadn’t heard of his music yet, as I was taking a break as a listener to this style of music due to being inspired by other genres at the time. When I heard the first track idea he sent me I was impressed & excited to add elements to it. The first track we worked on was “Composure”, which ended up being the intro track to the album.

3. What would you say is the stand out track here that ties the album together?

For me, it is Track 3, “Alpine” purely because of the way it makes me feel. I think our styles mesh perfectly on that song from beginning to end.

4. Can you describe what the creative process of the album looked like? (Was it a remote collaboration? Or was there a meet up, etc.)

This collaboration was remote. A meetup would have been cool, but we live 7,000+ miles away from eachother. Remote collaboration has its own set of pros & cons, but technology has made it much easier with tools like immediate screen & file sharing.

5. Favorite piece of gear you use to create your music? (can be multiple, as well as plugins, vst’s etc.) and why it’s an important part to you as an artist.

My favorite tool to create music is always intuition, but if I had to pick a piece of gear it would be my gold yamaha guitar. Intuition is important because it allows you to pour more feelings into the music. As far as the Yammy is concerned, I’m always like: “ F*ck this axe is sick, I gotta play something cool now. “

6. What could we expect from you two in the coming months? Anything you’d like to share?

I am working on my first sample pack alongside other singles for this year. Additionally, I plan to release a solo EP.

Interview with Softy

1. Significance behind the album title “Balance”? And how the name relates to the mood of the album?
Same thing as Kendall said, we selected the name “Balance” after receiving the finalized artwork from my friend Yang (@yangfreezy). Mountains embody strength, earth, peace, etc. & all life is dependent on balance. To me, the songs represent these attributes along with experiences throughout life.

2. How did the collaborative album come to be?
After I listened to his album “Eternal”, I thought I wanted to collaborate with him. So I contacted him because I thought my style and Kendall’s style would match well. And then we ended up making the first track “Composure” , and we really loved it, and then we decided to make more tracks together.

3. What would you say is the stand out track here that ties the album together?
For me, It’s 2nd track “Falling Again”. I think my piano, his drum and guitar go well together especially on this track. Also I really like the mood of this track.

4. Can you describe what the creative process of the album looked like? (Was it a remote collaboration? Or was there a meet up, etc.)
It was a remote collaboration. It would have been great to meet and work together in real life, but we were able to continue to make good tracks from afar and continued to communicate from afar.

5. Favorite piece of gear you use to create your music? (can be multiple, as well as plugins, vst’s etc.) and why it’s an important part to you as an artist.
My favorite gear I use to create my music is Piano (grand piano, Rhodes) . I’ve learned piano since I was young, I especially think it is an instrument that can show my style best in music production.

6. What could we expect from you two in the coming months? Anything you’d like to share?
I’m working on lots of projects right now. And I’m also preparing my solo projects and other collab projects with producer friends. I’ll keep trying to find my various music styles and good sound.

Producers whose work is selected for release on the catalog will have the support of our team in developing high-quality art and with developing a promotional strategy for the release. Our editorial staff also conducts interviews and develops press bios with many of the artists on our roster; we care about helping expose the individuals and stories behind the music.

Since we care about the producer, we aim to keep a in-house membership due to travelling, live-shows and yearly gatherings including support from the crew whenever a producer is releasing something new on the catalog.
